Your Paper Mache – Page 40
I’m always thrilled when people use my books and videos to make something they love. Makes me feel like a grandpa to these projects. Here are some more photos of paper mache art people have sent to me. If you would like me to post your photos, send them to me at, dan@gourmetpapermache.com. Enjoy!
Ryan Pace is an art teacher at the American School of Doha in Qatar. He took on a very ambitious project with his students this year. Ambitious is actually understated. I know how difficult it is to teach a paper mache class to many students. I is very messy and requires a lot of discipline, by both teacher and student. His class made dragon trophies (and one full dragon). This is appropriate because the mascot of the school is a dragon. These are “American School Dragons!” And the results were spectacular! Below are photos of only a few. I couldn’t post every one of the dragons. But this is a very nice sample! Note that many projects were team efforts. The artists are listed above the pieces shown. What lucky kids to have such a dedicated teacher. And Ryan is very lucky to have such motivated, talented students!

The photos on these pages are almost exclusively made of paper mache. But Karen Kingsley’s dragon deserves recognition even though it is made of Pal Tia, a paper and cement product that can be be used for outdoor sculptures. Look at this fantastic dragon she made after adding tile work to the Pal Tia structure! Karen teamed up with another paper mache friend of mine, Diane Sorensen, in a dragon-making challenge for charity. Very cool idea! You can see both dragons in process here.
